The Taste of the South was created in 2021 as a nonprofit 5013c organization in Denver, Colorado. We observed the fact that the world has embraced and incorporated what we call black excellence into our everyday lives, from sports, music, food, fashion, and inventions. However, this is typically only celebrated in relation to the oppression of our ancestors. We are more than slavery survivors, and warriors. Although the enslavement and segregation of our ancestors are a contributing factor to who we are. We refuse to be defined solely by our past and not celebrated for our current success. The South and everything it embodies; defines our Black Culture; we believe that bringing the positive vibes, southern cuisine, and celebration of Black excellences would be a movement that people of all backgrounds would enjoy.
